Marantz
Who is Marantz ?
Marantz was founded in 1952 by Mr. Saul B. Marantz in New York, USA. The worldwide brand was acquired by Philips in 1981 and is owned for 100%. Marantz still maintains its autonomy in product creation and sales and marketing worldwide.
What is the philosophy of Marantz ?
The format in which home entertainment products will be presented will change dramatically in the coming decades. As long as music reproduction is involved Marantz will participate. Music is part of our lives. In today’s times where audio meets video, music is the defining ingredient. It brings emotion into vision and puts the passion into our experiences. For us, the realistic reproduction of music is the essential premise.
Why does Marantz have three different ranges?
Because Marantz markets products to reach three different target groups in the Home Entertainment market. Premium: consumers with a keen interest in audiophile hi-fi products, which are non-compromising in performance, construction and finish. Range: consumers with a keen interests in technologies both in hi-fi and audio-visual home entertainment components. Apart from the future-proof features, build quality and sound performance are key. Style: consumers with a keen interest in aesthetics and excitement.
Where are the products manufactured?
Our Premium and Style products are manufactured in Japan, the Range series in Singapore, Indonesia and China.
Where are the headquarters of Marantz based ?
Marantz is a global company with three regions: Asia, Europe and the USA. The headquarters are based in Japan (Marantz Japan Inc.). The European headquarters are based in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) and the American headquarters in Chicago.
What is the K.I.Signature concept ?
K.I. stands for Ken Ishiwata, who was the creator of the Special Edition of Marantz. With the K.I. concept, we take the Original Special Edition concept further, seeking to reach the very summit of sound quality. The Marantz K.I. Signature series is the embodiment of one man’s design and engineering expertise, accumulated over 20 years of creating world-beating hi-fi with Marantz. It is the essence of the unique skills, know-how and experience of Ken Ishiwata.
What is the Original Special Edition concept ?
The Special Edition concept was introduced in 1988 and has become synonymous with Marantz. Over the last decade many competitors have followed suit and therefor the Original SE has been reestablished in 1998, underlining the Marantz heritage in sound reproduction excellence. Based on the original model, all features not contributing to sound quality are eliminated and higher standard components specially made for Marantz are implemented. This dramatically improves both the technical and musical performance.
Which format will Marantz choose: DVD-Audio or SACD ?
Super Audio CD is a logical step for Marantz. It offers significant quality benefits in sound reproduction. It also allows full retro compatibility thus protecting consumer investments in existing CDs and CD players.
What is the Marantz position in Home Cinema / A/V products ?
We know that true hi-fi is about being able to reproduce the magic of a performance. In movies, it’s the music that delivers the ecstasy and agony of a film’s story. We are currently building on our heritage in outstanding sound and build quality receivers. Based on the company’s strengths the new receiver range will play an important role in a growing segment. Furthermore Marantz will launch exciting vision products in the beginning of the year 2000.
What is the difference between SACD and DVD Audio?
DVD-Audio was developed based on the video format (DVD video) while the Super Audio CD was developed based on the audio format (CD). DVD-Audio is based on PCM recording technology of the past but offers improved sound quality by using a higher sampling frequency and longer word lengths. The SACD, however, is based on a superior recording technology called Direct Stream Digital (DSD) that more closely reproduces the shape of the original analog waveforms to produce a more natural, higher quality sound that more accurately captures the nuance and atmosphere of the source material. (or: DSD directly records original signals immediately after they have been converted from analog to digital. It makes use of a simplified mechanism for recording and playback, enabling to reproduce pure and high quality sound that comes very close to the original source, giving the impression that you listen to.
